FAQs
Are the vegetable seedlings grown locally or sourced from a wholesaler?
All of our vegetables are grown from seed using our own compost. We are proud to grow “beyond organic”. We source our seeds from suppliers that sustainably source their products and follow organic practices.
What vegetables are best for gardening in central Minnesota?
We suggest brassicas for the Spring and Fall seasons which include broccoli and cauliflower. For the hot season, we have a lot of success with tomatoes and peppers. Because Minnesota Spring can be unpredictable, we suggest waiting until Memorial Day weekend to plant anything outdoors unless you plan to cover your plants at night.
When is it safe to plant annuals outdoors in the Brainerd area?
Follow the same rule of thumb as you would for vegetables. We suggest waiting to plant outdoors until Memorial Day weekend (last week of May) to avoid running into a late frost. If you choose to do hanging baskets or planters, you can move them into a garage or covered space at night until the overnight temperatures remain above 35-40 degrees.
Can your team give me advice on what to plant for my sun/shade conditions?
Yes we can! Our annual plants and hanging baskets will have colored tags to indicate which varieties are created for sun and shade conditions. If you need any further information, you can chat with us and we can point you in the right direction.

What is a micro-farm?
A micro-farm often refers to a farm that grows specialty crops like produce on a small scale. We grow on a little more than an acre and focus on providing a great product without negatively impacting the environment. Small scale farming is both sustainable and supports the local economy. We consider that a win-win!
How big is the Treeline Acres farm?
We own 48 acres of beautiful land south of Brainerd.
When did Treeline Acres start?
We bought our property in the summer of 2020. Since then, we have made gradual improvements to the buildings and infrastructure. In 2023, we began making strategic efforts to grow the farm into a small business. We started making sourdough bread and selling at farmers markets along with the little amount of vegetables we had leftover from our first gardens. From there, our plans and dreams grew and we began selling more product and diversifying our revenue streams which leads us to opening our nursery this year.
What does "keep our land wild" mean to you?
Our 48-acre farm is made up of a diverse ecosystem which we are proud to steward. We have wetlands, woodland, and grassland that provides habitat to a wide range of wildlife. When we make decisions on how to manage our farm, we also consider how those decisions will impact the surrounding wildlife. We do not put fencing in natural deer corridors. We plant native species to promote pollinators and combat invasive species. We do not spray our field with synthetic chemicals or fertilizers. We practice rotational grazing with our livestock. We practice low-tilling farming. All of these things help us live in harmony with nature rather than working against it.
